My Dvd’s (April 2012)

Films I’ve recorded from BBC4, Film4, and occasionally Channel 4 or BBC2; usually scheduled for broadcast at 1 or 2 in the morning. Other films I’ve got out on weekly loan (via the internet) from Devon County’s extensive library of “World Cinema” Dvd’s.

Yes, most of these films are subtitled. I’m trying to radically reduce the amount of American cinema/culture i consume. Anything remotely “Hollywoodesque” is off limits. The kind of film that’s primarily been made for financial interests and commercial gain i’m not interested to watch. I’ve come to the conclusion that mainstream cinema is manipulative, formulaic, reductive, predictable.
